PFWM Recap: Pièces Uniques Guardians of my wardrobe

This might not be the first time I’ve blogged about Pièces Uniques, but at this rate it wont be the last, as the brand continues to deliver absolute fire season after season. I wish I was writing this as a show recap but unfortunately for me, Pièces Uniques did a digital show as opposed to a physical show. Nonetheless, I was able to finally meet my Parisian PU family and discuss the hopes I had for them and upcoming plans.

To soothe my woes about Pièces Uniques not having a show, the brand invited me to their showroom and event they were having, to showcase the new ‘Guardian of the moon’ fall/winter 19 collection. To top it off they were booking Flohio as the live act which meant it would be a squad celebration.

While watching the digital show, I was blown away by the brand’s ability to depict structure and functionality. Each monochrome piece was an effortless display of tailoring with finesse. I also appreciated the digital show as it allowed me to rewatch and analyse each garment.

What was even more outstanding, was that each piece captured the essence of its reference point perfectly, while adding their uniqueness to it. For example the military jacket embodies the structure of a typical military jacket but it’s in its binding that the brand put their own spin on it, with the leather strap and luggage/customs style buckle. Similarly the leather biker is bound by the zip release clasp and features a dual zip for the top and bottom of the jacket.

Whether its a bomber, utility vest, trench or biker, Pièces Uniques understanding of geometry, symetry, and structure, which they have showcased in previous collections, continues to be a focal point that is the final detail in bringing these looks to life.

As the team put on the collection for Flohio’s performance, we felt everything from the soft leather of the biker jacket, to the androgynous style of the trousers complete with buckles and harness. Even the simple turtle neck finished with the Le Clè zip added to the overall slick aesthetic. We looked and felt the part, and it became truly difficult to choose a “favourite” but the trousers, leather jacket, and military jacket stole my heart.

Everything about this collection is clean, and judging by the responses and requests received after I initially posted it, it’s clear you all feel the same. It was also great to see people choosing different pieces that aligned with their personal style. This entire collection stands out without needing bright colours. It’s smart, sexy, and needs no accessories due to the use of buckles, harnesses, and straps.

If there’s any certainty for me its that this collection will be found in my wardrobe, guarding my style and making sure I look flawless at all times. I’m excited by the direction the brand continues to move in, and no doubt they’ll have a larger presence this year.
