Rhude boy takes over PFW

Not long ago I wrote about Rhuigi Villasenor, founder of Rhude, to highlight his fire collection as well as upcoming collaboration with Puma. Since then Rhuigi has gone on to do even more great things, not least of them being holding his first show at Paris Fashion Week. Based on his previous drops, this wasn’t one to be missed.

Rhuigi is known for delivering the best in high end streetwear and his debut show was no different.  The collection titled ‘Seven Falls’ featured a number of references signalling his journey to America from the Philippines with Western (Cowboy) motifs playing through most of the pieces from Shawls to earthy brown ensembles, and ofcourse in print itself.

It wouldn’t be a Rhude presentation without his trifecta signature mark; the traxedo, motorcross reference, and the cigarette pack detailing, all of which were incorporated into this collection. The styling of each piece brought true satisfaction as each outfit presented an effortless overtone and the right mix of ‘smart’ and casual.

The accessories created for this collection are a must have, with the boxy cigarette side bags with rope detailing accentuating the rustic feel of the collection. Rhuigi truly grasps the art of the understated and its evident throughout. His subtle details and finishes are an apt reflection of his own place in the industry as he maneuvers in obscurity from the mainstream market, but still makes waves in presentation. Its safe to say that it’s not just summer that’s gonna be Rhude as he continues to have a killer year!
