Our much loved UK brand, A Cold Wall, headed by Samuel Ross, delivered their fashion show for London Fashion Week Mens. Today was certainly the most anticipated show judging by the sea of fashionistas waiting outside.
Samuel Ross had already teased some of the collection to be seen on the runway including ACW branded wellington boots which subtly indicated that his workwear motif would continue in 2018. The collection heavily resembled the age of industrialism forming parrallels with industries such as mining, fishing, and construction.
Ross continues to experiment with waterproof materials such as nylon which in itself mimics the practicality of many manufacturing based industries. We notice a lot of the outfits are well bound by an accessory such as side bags, buckled gilets and belts, reminiscent of the harnesses and safety equipment often found in manual labour, coincidentally they also bind Ross’ aesthetic and present each look as a finished piece.
In this collection, A Cold Wall largely sticks to its monochrome and metallic scheme, but in some instances, adds rust and vibrant colours. We believe this to be deliberate in simulating metal works and high visibility clothing. A Cold Wall maintains its simplistic branding which is aptly executed giving that the brand has come into its own and is easily identifiable.
A Cold Wall brought out some of our favourites to model the collection including style consultant and designer Aleali May, and our very own rockstar Lancey Foux who closed the show, so you know its a truly unisex collection. It is both stylish, practical, and surprisingly individual given that the motif represents a large group of people that forged (literally) the British economy.
We remain proud of Samuel Ross and the direction he takes A Cold Wall* and are hopeful for more interpretive pieces throughout the year (as well as more collaborations!). It’s safe to say A Cold Wall worked the runway (literally!).
