Although still reeling from the highlights of Day 1 of London Fashion Week Men’s, we had ample time in Day 2 to relax before heading off to Astrid Andersens 6pm show at The Old Selfridges Hotel.
We’ve been big fans of Astrid for the past couple of years so this was an eagerly anticipated show, and it was certainly worth the wait! The show kicked off with a bang with the opening model stepping out like a bull fighter ready to take on the runway. We weren’t prepared for the large cowboy hats that were worn by most models but they gave each model an additional fighting stride and a look reminiscent of the 80s style movement known as Buffalo, coined by stylist Ray Petri.
Each confident gait gave us the full breadth of the outfits. We know Astrid is a jacket connoisseur so unsuprisingly, the collection featured striking knee length jackets ranging from puffers to tartan with a mix of materials suitable for various weather conditions.
Astrid’s generous use of jacquard and checks was mesmerising. From a plaid silk trouser (which by the way we need along with the matching robe jacket) to a beautiful Torridon Sapphire Tartan. The brilliance didn’t stop there, Astrid went on to show case an elegant silk shirt as well as an array of athletic clothing featuring side detailed checked tracksuits. As true sneakerheads, it didn’t escape our notice that the footwear of entire collection was an unreleased Nike 270 in a vibrant yellow colour.
There is no stopping Astrid in 2018 as she takes the Buffalo by the horn! We look forward to seeing these pieces in street style! A special mention to Ella Dror and the team at The Lobby London for their hospitality and professionalism.
