While Fashion Week is primarily about connecting with brands, viewing new collections, and scouting new brands to work with, a big part of it is ofcourse the street style. Taking in innovative ways of putting pieces together, being inspired and checking out what’s hot! Subconsciously (or consciously) there is very much a runway going on outside as there is inside.
Its no secret that Fashion week is a creative’s chance to show off their style, so ofcourse I had to bring my A-Game. Rather than stressing over finding pieces that compliment each other, I wore a brand I stumbled across at One by One London, a long time favourite store of mine. It was in here I discovered the work of Stephen Foodi, which is a beautiful fusion of art & fashion. Foodi being a self taught artist, uses fashion as the conduit for his message.
Foodi hand customises everyday items that can be found in our wardrobes, and takes them from staples to statements. The designer always encrypts a message within each custom, which is intended to make both the wearer and observer think. This is a fitting characteristic given his motto being ‘ I can’t teach you anything, I can only make you think”. Foodi’s pieces are both artistic and conversational as they draw out interest in those that come across it.
From Macs to leather jackets, these artistically re-purposed garments are not overworked and tastefully finished to ensure that you are the perfect canvas to carry off his pieces; and judging by the reception it was well received!
