For over a year I have been obsessing over a brand I discovered through Saudi Swag Owner, Tee Harbi. At the time I was looking at a collaboration piece, that was a mix of contemporary and nostalgic fashion. Since then its constantly been on my radar. The brand I’m alluding to is none other than Italian based Paura, owned by Danilo Paura. After seeing Paura’s collaboration with Kappa in Sivasdescalzo Barcelona, this became a brand to watch and I’ve been impressed ever since.
Paura’s collaboration with Kappa featured items such as Chinos trousers with the Kappa logo down the seam in a bold red, hoodies, beautiful velvet trousers, as well as a denim two piece with the bleached Kappa logo all over. The concept was outstanding as the collection featured both statement and supporting pieces, all of which incorporate the boldness of Kappa and the modernity of Paura. The denim piece was a real winner for me, which resulted in me picking it up during the brand’s Black Friday Sale, in preparation for London Fashion Week in January.
Last month, during Milan Fashion Week, Paura debuted their Autumn Winter collection labelled ‘Gypsy Tour’ which was inspired by the film ‘Snatch’ where Brad Pitt plays a street kid. Danilo takes his inspiration from the streets then adds a touch of elegance to it, from the tailored jackets to the fur, to the use of silk scarves for a dash of classicism. The collection is a perfect fusion of two worlds and made for a great presentation against the backdrop of the Teatro Gerolamo.
I had the pleasure of running into Danilo after the Alyx show during Paris Fashion Week, coincidentally while wearing one of his pieces, and took the opportunity to congratulate him on both his presentation and such an outstanding collaboration with Kappa. This is one European brand that I’m happy to invest in and it won’t make me poorer as they have a great range of products currently on sale! Paura is a brand that I think is heading on the same trajectory as the likes of ‘Kith’ and in time will be brand collaborator of choice whilst also being able to stand on their own.
