Nothing excites me more than discovering new brands that represent the continent of Africa. It’s no secret that a plethora of brands have really brought the continent to the forefront of contemporary fashion in recent years with their display of vibrancy and play on textures.

One brand that firmly contributes to this is Palm Wine Ice Cream. After showcasing their AW25 collection at Berlin Fashion Week, Ghanian-British creative director Kusi Kubi piqued the interest of fashion aficionados with a collection that has catapulted the brand into the spotlight, and in my opinion solidifies itself as a future contender for the LVMH prize.

Their recent ‘Life Moodboard’ collection offered a leathered heaven, with corseted shirts, and innovative tie dye leather pieces. Kubi merged elements of afro-futurism with nostalgic design styles such as the tie dye pattern and the cuts reminiscent of the peak of Ghana’s highlife era. Thrusting us into this magical emboldened world, the collection was prime for the Berlin rave scene, yet seamlessly blends into the bustling backdrop of subsaharan Africa. While Palm Wine seemingly merges timelines, one thing that’s sure is the originality of what we’re seeing in African contemporary fashion as Kubi gives us new flavours to feast on!
