If you know anything about Nigerian culture then you know church on Sunday is a must, and what is even important is your church clothes and even here in the UK, church clothes is still as important (and non-negotiable) for some. That’s why the collaboration between NOTHING and Modus Vivendii really stood out when we came across it this past week. The concept of ‘church clothes’ usually makes you think of well ironed trousers or a nice dress that you wouldn’t wear on any other day. Vivendii and Nothing by Jai Eleven take that concept and apply it to street wear – after all church should be a place you can be yourself and wear what makes you comfortable!
The collection features a number of pieces with the statement ‘These are my church clothes’ written in a gothic font. The constrast of black and yellow works well on the clothing and shoulder bag. Our favourite piece has to be the shoulder bag, as it is on-trend and features the striking text that first attracted us to the brand! The capsule certainly fuses Nigerian culture and popular culture to bring a mix of streetwear for the youth.
We can see this brand being worn by the likes of Ian Connor and Luka Sabbat, with the black hoodie already recently worn by Nigerian afrobeats artist Davido while in London, the collection’s popularity is sure to continue growing. The collection dropped earlier today (had to be a sunday!) and can be purchased from the link below.
