London Fashion Week Men’s might seem like a distant memory, but one thing that cannot escape our mind was the intergalactic experience put on by Xander Zhou. We already gave Xander Zhou best ticket for the show, with the credit card theme, but what we stepped into was anything but similar to the monotonous world of banking.
The fusion of extra-terrestrial life-forms featuring pregnant men, and multi limbed models, with striking colour blocked pieces made for an eye-catching show. The thematic show juxtaposed what would be considered abnormal in today’s society, with ready to wear pieces that wouldn’t look out of place in any wardrobe. From earthy tones, to striking yet inoffensive colours, there is something for all preferences and safeguards against any wardrobe changes between now and the future.
The collection featured a variety of looks from statement print shirts and jackets, to Asian inspired tops and athletic two pieces, all of which had an additional flair unique to the designer. The use of transluscent materials created free flowing, contemporary menswear, with a more feminine essence. Whilst this was a spring summer collection, it also included pieces such as Sherpa tracksuits that would be fit for AW19 so perhaps we will see these in more winter appropriate colourways.
Paired with the Gentle Monster sunglasses, our favourite looks would have to be either the orange and green striped rugby/oxford-esque shirt or, the colour blocked boxy shirts that are perfect for a well executed androgynous look.
Whilst Xander Zhou puts on a show that is seemingly out of this world, the clothes are very much suited to the tastes of planet Earth’s inhabitants! A huge well done Xander Zhou, and thank you to Agency Eleven for having us.
