From Homegrown to Homecoming-London to Lagos

If like us you like to keep up to date with fashion in various countries, then you will have been very jealous as we watched our favourite brands and musicians link up in Nigeria for Boy Better Know ‘Homecoming’ pop-up curated by Grace Ladoja. While we wished we could trade gloomy England for a beautiful Nigerian sun, we took immense pride in the fact some of our favourite UK brands were included and not only that but they were also collaborating! Alongside, Off-White, Mains Patta we screamed like proud parents when we saw both What We Wear and Vivendii would be at the pop-up.

We have been following both brands journeys for some time now, and to see them representing the UK so well in their designer’s home country makes us feel proud. Vivendii has continuously been improving especially since the Nike Football Tournament during the first reveal of the new Super Eagles kit in London. Alongside  SKAIR, Off-White, Kim Jones, and Starboy, the brand showed us that they have moved beyond ‘church clothes’ and are capable of being versatile.

In the unveiling of jerseys at the ‘Homecoming’, Vivendii premiered a Nike football jersey with none other than Off-White! Complete with dip-dyed sleeves and a double swoosh (Nigeria HAS to win the World Cup now), in one piece alone Vivendii showed off their design prowess  and it didn’t end there.

The brand brought even more heat to Arise Fashion Week in Lagos, this time in collaboration with What We Wear. With earthy based colours that screamed motherland, Vivendii and What We Wear surpassed our imagination to bring us effortless African inspired attire, our favourite being the camouflage ‘Vivendii is WWW’ two piece (reminiscent of Carharrt and Heron Preston). Not to be outdone,  What We Wear premiered their  7 Days Till Lagos capsule, and as usual they did not disappoint. From vibrant mustard jackets to linen two pieces perfect for walks on Lekki Beach. The brand experimented with a range of materials from fur, wool, and suede to ribbed cotton. Although titled 7 Days Till Lagos, you’ll forever feel summer vibes in these pieces whether in Lagos or London!

Both of these brands have represented the UK and Nigeria very well at the Homecoming and Arise Fashion Week and left us expectant for more. Vivendii has solidified their place in the culture and are on their to becoming a household name by truly becoming what we wear and What We Wear has upped the stakes in displaying their design range and immersing themselves into streetwear, showing the industry that they are here to stay.
